WE RADIATE POSITIVITY.

WHY OUR SUPPORT
IS SO SPECIAL.

The outcomes we achieve often cause amazement and wonder.

Without doubt, one of the main reasons this occurs is because positive behaviour support is an incredibly powerful framework that can release people from harmful behaviours, reduce negative perceptions and develop life-changing skills and knowledge.

But this is only half of the story.

What truly makes Positive Support Group’s support so special is who we are as individuals and as a team.

We are incredibly passionate about our work and clients. We see opportunities when everyone else sees problems. We develop innovative solutions that overcome entrenched barriers.

And, ultimately, we succeed where others fail.

WHY POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT IS SO SPECIAL.

  • PBS considers the person as a whole, including their life history, physical health and emotional needs.

  • PBS uses person-centred approaches that ensure an individual’s personal needs, wants, desires and goals are central to the support provided.

  • PBS seeks to understand the reasons behind challenging behaviour so unmet needs can be met.

  • PBS provides support based on inclusion, choice, participation and equal opportunities.

  • PBS is proactive and preventative, because it focuses on teaching skills that help people communicate more effectively to reduce challenging behaviour.

  • PBS is backed by compelling evidence from behavioural science.

  • PBS encourages the involvement of people who live, care for and work with the person who is displaying challenging behaviour.

  • PBS develops the skills and knowledge of parents, care professionals and a client’s wider support network so they can provide better support.

  • PBS prevents exclusion, isolation and physical interventions which reduce dignity.

  • PBS improves the quality of life of people who display challenging behaviour, their family members and care professionals.

WHAT MAKES US SO SPECIAL?

  • We are truly passionate that everyone is deserving of a good life, and we do all we can to ensure the people we support achieve this.

  • We inspire hope in situations where people have lost all hope of a better life.

  • We work tirelessly to challenge barriers and turn problems into opportunities.

  • We treat every situation differently and think outside the box to create innovative solutions.

  • We have over 12 years’ experience working across social care, healthcare and education.

  • We are governed by a science of behaviour and use a tried and tested five-stage process with our clients (please see below).

  • We work with people who are particularly hard to reach and succeed where others have failed.

  • We assign a dedicated case lead to all our clients and projects, ensuring a comprehensive and personalised approach.

  • We offer 24/7 support to make sure the complex needs of our clients are met around the clock.

  • We achieve measurable outcomes that are valued by our clients and their support network, including reduced challenging behaviour, improved physical and emotional wellbeing and optimism for the future.

OUR 5-STAGE BEHAVIOUR CHANGE PROCESS:

STAGE 1

MATCHING

Initially, we get to know a client, their circumstances and their support network, as well as what everyone hopes to achieve through our involvement.

We then identify what we can do to make the greatest difference to the life of the client, their family and the rest of their support network.

STAGE 2

ENGAGING

We engage a client with the support we will provide and what it aims to achieve. This includes us inspiring, motivating and cheerleading a client so they feel ready to do more, be more and ultimately get more from life.

In addition, we also activate members of the client’s support network and ask them to commit to helping the client to change their behaviour and current situation.

STAGE 3

UNDERSTANDING

We use the science of behaviour analysis to gain a comprehensive understanding of a client and the reasons behind their challenging behaviour. This involves us assessing the client in a range of settings, for example, at their home, a school, residential care setting or supported living environment.

STAGE 4

DELIVERING

We deliver comprehensive behaviour programmes to help reframe the challenging behaviour of a client and develop flexible, tailored solutions that lead to positive change.

This may involve us providing direct behaviour therapy to a client, teaching a client new skills so they can better manage their behaviour, or training a client’s network to provide support in a different way.

STAGE 5

CELEBRATING

During this phase, we provide honest and positive summaries to keep the client and their network up to date with their progress.

Importantly, we also take valuable time to celebrate the achievements of our clients, which can be hugely beneficial.

And finally, we end our process when we know the client and their support network are totally committed to attaining the high expectations they have set for themselves.
